Wednesday the 13th of February, Day 4:
The first thing in the morning was the group photo. We quickly grabbed breakfast and then headed to the main pool area for the photo. There were a ton of people and I am not sure if I was even far enough forward to be noticeable in any picture. We were also so far away from the camera I had no idea what was going on, but apparently they were trying to get us to do a meme that had become popular while we were on the boat.
Shortly after the photo we all headed over to the performer Q&A. It was awesome to see them joke around and a good insight into what they do. Randall showed up late and looked all worried and bad. Beth said that she felt bad for him and just wanted to give him a big hug to let him know it was all ok.
Then it was off to get ready for our day in St. Thomas. Of course the first activity was running on the island again. We ran into town and then headed up around Blackbeard’s Castle. It was on top of a really steep hill. Which made it hard to get up to, but from the top it looked pretty. I kind of wish we had gone back to get a better look at it and take some pictures. It was very hot during the run, I was sweating like crazy.
After the run we got back to the ship, and they had security guards in front of the gates to get to the ship. They were asking for passports. Doh! We didn’t even think about it, we only brought our cruise cards to get back on the ship. Luckily they let us back on!
After cleaning up we headed back to the island, called home since St. Thomas is technically part of the US, so we had normal rates calling to home. We wondered around in the little “shops” that were setup with people selling things.
We then headed back to the ship and took a quick nap. That felt really good, I was still running on a low amount of sleep. It was then off to dinner, we met more new Sea Monkeys and had some good conversations.
After dinner we headed down to hear part of the Glen Raphael and Hello the Future concert before heading over to Wil’s Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. The AMA was in the little pub that was on the boat. We had the whole place packed, even standing room was tight. Wil Wheaton’s AMA was awesome. He talked about beer, his charity, depression, a bunch of stories about his work and growing up with his parents. It was all very interesting! After the AMA we went over and got to talk with Anne. It was great to get to talk with her again. We talked about pets, animals, and beer. Sadly, they haven’t heard anything about Silas recently.
It was then onto the JoCo Live Karaoke! That was just amazing! They had sign up sheets around for the couple days leading up to this. One by one they called up people to the stage to sing JoCo songs with the actual JoCo Band! I mean seriously if there a better way to do Karaoke? Ok I would probably have been very freaked out about screwing up the songs having the band right there. However, everyone that was up there was amazing. Since this was with a live band, there was no lyrics, no bouncing balls, no colored in text, just memory (and help from the crowd).
So rewinding a bit… At the performer Q&A, a 14 year boy came up and asked a question. His name was David. He apparently saved up on his own to come. Then during the karaoke, John Roderick stepped out on stage and pulled David up onto the stage to sing Nemesis. Just amazing!
